A Journey with Giants – Climate-Themed Workshop for Kids

At Little Beetle Press, we believe that stories can change the world—and children are the best heroes to lead the way!

One of our workshops by a writer Halyna Budilova, “A Journey with the Giants,” is based on two of our books: Eco-Tales of Giants and The Snow Giant and Climate Change. This magical session takes children on an unforgettable trip across Europe alongside mighty giants as they explore pressing climate issues through storytelling, interactive games, and eco-friendly creativity.

We begin in the snowy Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine and follow the gentle Snow Giant on his journey to the melting Arctic, encountering forest fires, sandstorms, floods, and plastic-polluted beaches along the way. With every step, children learn about the effects of climate change, meet new characters like Ocean Giant and Forest Giant, and discover simple actions they can take to care for our planet.

🧃🌱 The workshop includes:

  • An author reading and storytime adventure

  • Discussion about real-world environmental challenges

  • Interactive Q&A with kids

  • Hands-on EcoPets Craft Activity – where children turn recyclable materials into new toys

  • Inspiration from our “I’m the Planet’s Best Friend” art challenge

We are delighted to share that this workshop can be supported by Poetry Ireland’s Writers in Schools scheme, which part-funds visits by writers and storytellers to primary and post-primary schools across both the Republic of Ireland (funded by The Arts Council) and Northern Ireland (funded by Arts Council Northern Ireland). This wonderful initiative makes it possible for us to bring engaging, meaningful, and creative storytelling directly to classrooms—empowering the next generation of eco-heroes.

We’d love to bring this experience to your school, library, or community centre! Let’s inspire imagination, spark creativity, and plant seeds of positive change—one story at a time.
