A Magical Summer in Tír na nÓg: A Creative Bridge Between Cultures

What happens when Ukrainian imagination meets Irish magic? You get a joyful, cross-cultural workshop where children don’t just listen to stories—they help build them! Our newest workshop from Little Beetle Press, inspired by the book A Magical Summer in Tír na nÓg, is a celebration of creativity, connection, and collaboration.

Created by author and publisher Halyna Budilova, this interactive workshop invites children to dive into a world where myths meet memories—and where young adventurers from all backgrounds are encouraged to invent their own fantasy worlds through storytelling, games, and art.

🎲 What’s the Workshop About?

This playful and imaginative experience centers on creating a magical board game—designed entirely by the children themselves! Working in groups, they’ll dream up original fantasy lands, invent magical creatures, and shape the rules of their unique story-driven games.

And that’s just the beginning.

The workshop also includes:

• The Whispering Woods – a riddle challenge where kids search for Irish words to move forward

• The Rainbow Ladder Quiz – fast-paced fun that rewards teamwork and clever thinking

• The Meadow of Memories – where personal stories help revive a magical landscape

• The Poetry Playground – an open space for playful words and wild ideas

• Storytime – featuring a live reading from A Magical Summer in Tír na nÓg

  
  

We are delighted to share that this workshop can be supported by Poetry Ireland’s Writers in Schools scheme, which part-funds visits by writers and storytellers to primary and post-primary schools across both the Republic of Ireland (funded by The Arts Council) and Northern Ireland (funded by Arts Council Northern Ireland). This wonderful initiative makes it possible for us to bring engaging, meaningful, and creative storytelling directly to classrooms
