When Halyna Budilova relocated to Ireland, she brought with her a dream: to inspire children worldwide through meaningful stories. The first year was tough—her heart was in Ukraine, invaded by Russia, she tried to juggle one-parent experience, late-night work hours, and building a publishing house from scratch in a new country. But her determination and vision for Little Beetle Press transformed challenges into success.

 

Exclusive Q&A Excerpt:Q: What inspired you to start Little Beetle Press in Ireland?"Books have always been magical to me. They’re more than stories—they’re tools to teach, comfort, and bring people together. Moving to Ireland gave me the opportunity to think big. I wanted to create something special for kids everywhere, something that combines imagination with important lessons about the world."

 

Q: What makes Little Beetle Press stand out?"We push boundaries! Whether it’s using augmented reality or creating Braille books, we ensure every child feels included. Plus, we collaborate with talented illustrators globally, ensuring every story resonates visually and emotionally."

 

Q: What was the biggest challenge you faced when starting Little Beetle Press in Ireland?"Adjusting to a completely new environment. Moving to Ireland meant starting over in many ways, including building connections and learning about the publishing industry in a different cultural context. But challenges push you to grow. I found strength in my mission to create books that give kids roots and wings.

 

Q: What advice would you give aspiring writers or publishers?"Start small but think big. Build a network, stay curious, and never stop learning. Most importantly, stay true to your vision. The work is tough, but seeing a child light up when reading one of your books makes it all worth it."
